fermentation duration (days)

Post by remick »

Hello Bernhard,

First of all, looks like you've made a piece of really nice software here! Kudos!

I got a question regarding fermentation duration (days). In free version it says it is 10 days.
In most of brews I've made so far (I'm beginner so it was actually just 6) recipe said my beer should ferment for like 14 days in some set temperature.

20 EUR/year is not an issue, actually it is bargain but before I purchase subscription I'd like to test "system".
However isn't that 10 days fermentation duration limitation restrict such test?
What will happen when day 10th or 11th is exceeded?
Will days 1st and 2nd disappear or there will be no log for those last days (11-14th).

Probably I'm missing here something. As I said before I'm new into "brewing" stuff.

Remick

Hi Remick,

thanks for the kind words and thanks for giving it a shot. I do understand, that 10 days feels like a bad limitation. This, however, is not to bother potential PRO users. The reason is simply that long running brews are the main cost driver for my infrastructure.

After 10days your brew will simply be stopped - no data will be discarded or whatsoever. You can simply restart the the same recipe with the same hardware afterwards. Only downside is, that you do not have one continous graph. Top fermenting yeasts should be done after a couple of days (less then 10 for sure). If you use something bottom fermenting could take wayyy longer (14 days).

Hope that helps?

Cheers,
Bernhard.

Hi Bernhard,

Wow, that was lightning fast respond!

Yes, thank you. I got my answer.
But that rise my second question.

Lets say I start my fermentation with "free" account and while it last I'll decide that I like it and want to switch to "pro" version.
Will that be smooth process and my data/log will last over those 10 days limitation from "free" version or I'll have to restart recipe?

Booking PRO only affects brews started after the booking was completed - normally.

Let me know when you book PRO via the feedback button in the lower-right corner and I'm happy to patch it manually one time.

Cheers,
Bernhard.

Hi,

Thanks again for quick response.

I think I'll just make "fake" brew today.
I'll just turn on my iSpindel and let it lay down and monitor room temperature. Later on I'll change angle to see what will happen.
That will be my trial period and if I like it I'm going to PRO - so no need to bother you :D

Have a great rest of the day !
