Simple monitoring

Post by Jon »

Hi,
Before I move in to more complex brewing, I'd like to use this for tracking the fermentation of beer kits - is this possible? I can't seem create a recipe without a boiling step, and when I press go I seem to end up in an endless "waiting to start" loop. Manual mode doesn't seem to log batches as comprehensively as far as I can see.

Thanks,
Jon

Hey Jon,

thanks for checking out BierBot Bricks! Should be possible, and if not: We'll make it possible.

You're right - the boiling step can't be completely removed from the recipe. However, the boiling stage can simply be ignored by selecting "skip recipe step" in the Automatic-Preparation.

Assumption: you have one Brick, relay mapped to cooling of a fermenter, temperature mapped to temp. of fementer. Is that correct, or do you have an iSpindle / TILT?
In this case the brew should start a few seconds after the Brick transmitted it's temperature.

What does it say "brew is starting" or "waiting for $(YOUR_FERMENTER) to get ready..."?

Regarding manual: you got that right - Automatic is what you want.

Cheers,
Bernhard.

Hi Bernhard!
Thanks for getting back to me. I have one ispindel at the moment - added to my Fermenter as temp and SG input. I've got a recipe which is 0min boil and monitoring for 14d. I get communication with the ispindel.
I click start on the recipe - it gets to "Waiting for fermenter to get ready" and it seems to hang here. Ultimately I'd like to incorporate some bricks to run the temperature control during ferment - but I'm trying to start simple and seem to be stuck at step one!

Thanks for your help,
Jon

Hi Jon,

Waiting for fermenter to get ready means that the software waits for the first transmission from your iSpindle. This can take (for energy saving reasons) up to 15min.

If you already waited 15 min let me know so I can take a look!

Cheers,
Bernhard.
